Amanda's Knee Surgery Journey
Donation protected
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Amanda Threatt.
I grew up in Belmont North Carolina. I graduated from South Point in 1993 - Go Raiders - and continued my education at High Point University on a basketball scholarship until 1995, when an injury ended my career.
The reason I am creating a Go Fund Me account is that the knee replacement I have postponed for so long has become emergent. After working my entire life, I've been sidelined again by my old injury.
My orthopedic doctor has told me my injury has resulted in having the "knee of an 80-year-old" at the ripe old age of 48!!! I have done everything possible to help avoid surgery, including losing 100 pounds. Unfortunately, the weight loss isn't enough. Surgery is now the only way I'm going to be able to get back to work and become mobile again.
I have filed for short-term disability and am waiting for a decision. Surgery is scheduled for Aug. 18. I am scared because I am between a rock and a hard place. I need to work to have the money to pay bills as I recover, but I have to have the surgery and recover in order to work and make money! I am not a person who finds it easy to ask for help, but my friends have encouraged me to create this page because I don't think I'll be able to get through the next 2 months without help. ANYTHING, no matter how small, is appreciated and will be helpful!
Your donation will help cover the costs of rent, utilities, surgery, therapy, food, and gas. I appreciate your seeing and helping me along this journey.
Thank you for your consideration and for reading this far.❤️
