Amanda's Ongoing Medical Treatment and Surgery

We are family and friends of Amanda who are hoping to help our sweet, fun-loving, and kind-hearted girl with the massive amount of medical bills, upcoming surgery and ongoing treatment that she needs. At this point we are unsure just how much this will cost. Her ongoing bills are the first priorty to keep her afloat. She is already receiving bills for her earlier care. She has either been in the hospital, or in the brief time they hoped that she could do her IV fusion treatments at home on bed rest, she has not been able to work, let alone go outside or even pet her beloved Maximus. This is because her environment must be as sterile as possible.

Amanda was brought into the ER on June 22nd with a severe wound and bone fracture on her big toe, which turned out to be a staph/sepsis infection, as well as osteomyelitis (bone infection). She spent over two weeks in the hospital that required two different surgeries, with a host of other complications that arose. They had hoped that upon her release, she would be able to do her full-time care at home, but after 2 weeks of excruciating body aches and nausea, she has now been re-admitted to the hospital with a severe blood clot in her left side, right above her heart. This is due to a rare condition called Paget-Schroetter Syndrome, which she previously had in 2007 that required her to be on IV blood thinners and have her right upper rib removed.

Currently, due to the trauma of trying to insert PICC lines, multiple IVs and lab work, it has caused the condition to manifest and become active on her left side. She is on blood thinners, but unfortunately, unless they remove the left rib, the blood clots will keep returning.

Any of you that know Amanda, know that she has a helping heart and always wants to do anything she can for others. She would never dream of asking for help (and has a hard time letting others do things for her) and is someone that even the smallest kind word, hug, or smile is genuinely appreciated.
