Amanda's oral surgery
Donation protected
My name is Nina and I am raising funds for my friend Amanda Tellez to get much-needed oral surgery. Her story began when she was a very young girl. At the age of 11, Amanda became ill. She was sent to UCSF Medical Center for tests. It wasn’t until the age of 17 that she was diagnosed with Lupus. The disease wreaked havoc on Amanda’s kidneys and by the age of 20, she was on renal dialysis. Amanda needs a kidney transplant but her medical condition has led to a dangerous (critical) tear in her heart valve. Insurance will cover heart valve replacement and even a kidney transplant, however, she must pass a dental screening. Medications that she has taken since her teenage years have caused severe tooth decay. She needs oral surgery that will cost up to $2,500 which insurance does not cover. Standard dental care is covered by Amanda’s medical insurance but oral surgery is NOT covered. The entire amount must be paid upfront. Friends have joined hands to help relieve the financial stress of this first surgery so that Amanda can move past oral surgery and face the heart surgery and ultimately a kidney transplant. Please join us.
