Amanda's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Cheryl Wermer. I’m a friend and former co-worker of Amanda's. I'm writing on behalf of Amanda’s family and friends to help raise funds for Amanda while she recovers from surgery and begins to move through the next stage of her health battle.

Amanda is a daughter, sister, Aunt, great friend, school psychologist, and server at Daniella's with ties to Beverly, Danvers, and the Central New York community. At the young age of 12, Amanda was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. As a complication of being a Type 1 Diabetic, Amanda developed Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Despite her efforts to slow its progression, she reached Stage 5 (the final stage) of this disease. She underwent her first surgery in February to start dialysis treatment that will keep her afloat until she can get a kidney transplant. Amanda had some complications during her surgery that resulted in a prolonged hospital stay. Thankfully, she is home now resting with her parents' support. But her health battles are far from over. For the time being, Amanda is only able to work one job so she can focus on her recovery. She’ll need time to adjust to the demands and impacts of daily dialysis. Ultimately, Amanda needs a kidney and pancreas transplant. She’s on both transplant lists, but the wait time is unknown.

Amanda is the hardest working person anyone knows and relies on two incomes to support herself. She’s always been independent and worked 2-3 jobs to cover her daily expenses. Amanda would never want to ask for help but due to her medical circumstances of needing a kidney and pancreas transplant, she will need help with health, home, and medical expenses. Amanda is always generous with the people around her. She would make sure her servers were taken care of and would tip others who were not her server when they had been stiffed. She has quietly supplied people with food when in need. She would help her students and coworkers, taking things on so that others didn’t have to.

Please help Amanda get through this journey by lessening her worries. We appreciate any donation you can make. She means the world to us and we are proud of all she’s done. Thank you for your love and support.
