Amandita Helps Puerto Rico
Donation protected
As you all know, hurricanes Irma and Maria struck the island of Puerto Rico, leaving most of it devastated. Today, people are still struggling putting their lives back together, and accessing vital and basic necessities such as food, water, and safe shelter.
Now, some of you may not be familiar with the Bacardi Legacy Global Competition. It’s the biggest cocktail competition in the world – hundreds of bartenders compete to represent their country.
This April, I will be representing Germany during the world finals in Mexico City. In the period leading up to the final, each competitor is allocated a budget in order to promote their Legacy cocktail, to make it a new classic.
So, I figured: why not try and reach out? Give back? Do something a little different and challenging?
As a bartender, hosting and imbibing people everyday with finely crafted cocktails, I struggle with the knowledge that Puerto Rico – the place of production of Bacardi - and its people are still largely without clean water
That’s why, for each Amandita sold, one euro will be donated to an organisation providing clean water in Puerto Rico. In addition to keeping Amandita on the menu at my home bar, Velvet, it will also be offered at several partner bars. With the help and support from these partner bars, I am happy to be able to widen the fundraising effort even further.
In addition, I will give my 1,500 euro marketing budget in its entirety to this project.
This page will help centralise the donations from each drink sold in all partner bars, and from independent donors, as we fundraise. I donate the full amount raised shortly before the global final this April.
I believe that whoever you are, whatever you do, you can still achieve something greater than yourself.
Our community is often referred to as a family, let’s prove that!
