Amani Queens Football Club

Amani Queens girl’s football team was started in 2011 and played its inaugural Football Kenya Federation Nairobi West sub branch league in 2013, emerging Fourth position. The main aim was to empower the young girls with life skills through football that will enable them grow up as responsible people in the society and reduce school dropout rate amongst the girl child especially due to teenage pregnancy and negative peer influence.

The team began with young girls aged between 8 years old and 14 years old at a time when girl’s participation in football was at its record low due to the high rate of school dropout due to teenage pregnancies some attributed to girls playing football.

Since its inception, apart from trophies won, our biggest achievement is that we have recorded zero teenage pregnancies and zero cases of drugs and alcohol abuse.

Over the years, we have been successful to secure full educational sponsorship and scholarships for 14 girls in high school where they still continue to play football. Besides, five of our previous players currently play for the national senior women’s team and three were selected to play for the national under 20s and under 17s national women teams.

Currently, Amani Queens has 22 players aged between 15 and 19 years old.
