AMANI'S STORY - Short Film Project

Donation protected
Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page:

Here’s why I need your support from the public via donations and/or sponsorship:

In order to begin to offer programmes to schools, prisons and PRUS we will need a substantial amount of working capital to cover initial costs such as travel, material costs and facilitator time. Also in order to create versions for primary schools and 6 week workshops we will need funds to go back into post production.

Here is the final film for you to watch, it received 1 Million Views in under 4 days when released online on 13th Jan 2019! I am truly humbled by the support of my community and the comments from young people around the world.

About the project

Seven years ago I was stabbed seven times after a series of negative choices. Today I am able to stand proud and share part of my story with the world. My mission is not to glorify myself but to save as many young lives as possible by speaking from experience and sharing the solutions that transformed my life.

In 2018 there were over 1,299 stabbings in London up to the end of April, according to official statistics from the Met Police. This is unacceptable! As a survivor of a similar attack I know that the mental and physical recovery, let alone the urge to retaliate, is more than many could handle. Therefore I believe its my responsibility to help steer teenagers away from the choices that led me down a road filled with so much darkness.

Last year, after speaking to my brother Joivan Wade (lead actor in The Purge 4, Eastenders and Shiro's Story) we decided that we should use our platforms to tell a true story of self-discovery and transformation. We worked together to create a powerful spoken word piece that will explore the struggles of faith, the pressures teenagers can face while growing up and the pain of losing your true identity. Joivan will lead the amazing cast playing myself and the the film with also feature former police superintendent Leroy Logan MBE and youth activist Paul Mckenzie (Soapbox Realtalk).

Once the film has been released in Jan 2019 we will begin working with local councils, schools and youth organisations to ensure we impact the maximum number of young people with our film and exclusive workshops. Joivan is also the owner of The Wall of Comedy platform, which reaches over 450 million people each month and works with many influencers and celebrities. We will therefore work together to make sure that the film receives maximum exposure through our various networks and contacts.

On a community level we will be partnering with violence interruption specialist Nathaniel Peat and his organisation The Safety Box to launch special self-defence and personal development programmes alongside local councils and other key partners.

As part of our project outcomes we will be producing an impact report to show you just how your contributions and prayers have made a real difference in the lives of the 14-19 year olds we wish to reach.

I believe this project can really help to transform lives and mindsets for many years to come. Not just because it's my own lived experience being shared but because the next generation needs more empowering and relatable stories to keep them en route to positive futures. Personally I hope this is the start of a new trend and that other potential role models continue to step forward and accept the cry for help that is echoing from our streets.

I pray you can support my vision financially but also that you help to spread awareness and keeping me and my team in your prayers.

UPDATE - Nov 18

Thanks to everyone who has supported the project so far. Since starting I have been featured on BBC News, ITV News and various other national platforms. I have even won the community inspiration award at the UK Entertainment Awards 2018.
