January 2017, a New Year, with new adventures to enjoy with family. However, Amber was not expecting to be hit with the biggest test of her life. In the middle of January Amber started to feel fatigued and was having severe palpitations (abnormal heart beat). She made an appointment with her physician, they ran blood tests and performed general testing to find out what could be causing her symptoms. Amber's creatinine level (kidney function)/Iron levels came back dangerously low. On January 26 Amber was immediately admitted to the hospital, during that time she underwent two blood transfusions, ultrasounds, CT's, heart echo, colonoscopy, EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy), a CT bone marrow biopsy, kidney biopsy, and extensive blood work. On February 23 she was finally diagnosed with ANCA Positive Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) of the renals, Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a small vessel vasculitis which primarily affects the arterioles (small arteries), capillaries and venules (small veins), which can cause organ failure. This disease is treatable, yet not curable. She has to been on high doses of Prednisone, and started chemotherapy on March 13. Anyone who know's Amber, knows that she is the most loving, caring, sweetest person. She would do anything for anyone without thinking twice. She came into this with NO health insurance, and is now having to deal with all the medical expenses that has exceeded $129,000 as well as the ongoing treatments that could take months or years. Any donation amount will be helpful! We thank you, and may God bless you!
