Amber Musser's Leukemia Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Our beloved Amber Musser was diagnosed with leukemia in late January this year. She spent a month in the hospital and endured blood transfusions, numerous biopsies of her bone marrow, chemotherapy, and then fought off infections while her immune system rebuilt itself. Amber has moved through all of these ordeals with grace, thoughtfulness, and of course, her signature style. But there is much more in front of her: rounds of chemo, another month-long hospital stay for a stem cell transplant, and many months of relative isolation as she recovers.
Cancer treatments and caretaking costs can create financial stress and overwhelm even for those with solid insurance. Amber’s bills are rolling in and will continue to do so for some time. As importantly, her treatment regime requires significant changes in her life during the following year. She has to move into a larger apartment where caretakers can live with her. She must guard against infection post-transplant, which means no subways and a very carefully monitored diet. And then there are the countless unanticipated costs of living with cancer.
So we have set up this fundraiser to support Amber with these changes in her life. She is dealing with a lot these days, and it may not be the easiest to get in touch with her or figure out ways of supporting her day-to-day routines. Donating is one way to show your support, love, and care for Amber. Everything raised on this platform will go directly to Amber's bank account. We want our Amber to focus 100 percent on her treatments and recovery. This fund will alleviate financial stress, which, if we lived in a different world, should never be a concern when dealing with a severe illness, and allow her to ground herself in what matters: her health and well-being.
