UPDATE: We've exceeded our goal of raising funds! Yesterday's March in Questa in Memory of Amber and bringing awareness to the Bennie Hargrove law was a huge success. Thank you everyone for being there in body or spirit. The Crime Victims Reparation Commission will be covering the funeral expenses and we are so very grateful for this program. We are going to keep this GoFundMe account open as we plan to continue marching. These funds will be used to help our efforts in continuing to march in as many villages, towns and cities in New Mexico to spread the word on the Bennie Hargrove law and in memory of our beautiful angel Amber. Hi, my name is Glenda Archuleta-Alnachef. Amber Renee Archuleta was my niece who I loved immensely. Amber's father, my brother, Joshua Archuleta, asked me to create this account on his behalf. Amber was 13 years old when she was shot and killed on July 18, 2023, by her 14-year-old friend who she trusted. This friend had access to guns as his parents did not place their guns in a safe. These guns were freely accessible to their children or anyone who entered their home. Amber was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was an amazing artist and musician. She was loved by so many and her death that could have been prevented is a tragedy not only to our family but to her community and humanity. Your donations will help Amber's father give his daughter a proper burial and help with the expenses that are incurred due to the death of a loved one. Also, we are hoping to raise funds to help bring awareness to the Questa Community and surrounding areas on the new Bennie Hargove Law which passed on July 1, 2023. This law obligates gun owners to keep their guns in a safe (under lock and key). Also, the Bennie Hargrove law will charge a gun owner with the same crime the shooter commits if their gun was used due to the gun owner failing to keep their guns in a safe.
