I’m praying that Equine community will join hands with me to support Amber Rennie threw some serious medical issues.
Most of you that have ever attended a sale should recognize her kind smile. Amber has a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued with her warmth, her kindness, and her gentle approach
As a single mother of three sons ages 10, 15, and 20 Amber has already endured more health issues than the majority of us will face in our lifetime. Seven years ago she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. A double mastectomy, full hysterectomy, chemo, and radiation were the approach! Numerous times Amber would work a full day in Ocala, drive all night to KY, do chemo in the a.m., and drive back the same day to be at work for the following day. I tell you this so that you can understand the grit this woman comes packaged in; wrapped up with a bow of humility. I can’t think of a better kind of human to honor on National Women’s Day.
Near the five year anniversary it was discovered that there were tumors metastasizing in her bones in various locations (still referred to as breast cancer) and many surgeries have been performed on her spine to remove the painful tumors, more rounds of chemo, more radiation, and more scary trips to the doctor then one would wish upon our enemies .
Today I had the privilege to spend a few hours with Amber at Saint Joseph’s. Her most recent scan revealed that the number of tumors has grown from 8 to 13 (not what they were hoping for ) “Perhaps you should consider discontinuing treatment,” they say. Such a horrible choice to think about…. choosing the QUALITY of your life versus the longevity. It’s grim, it’s hard, it’s scary, but she thinks about her children and continues to fight for them.
Amber‘s last paycheck was July 2022. She would love to create a few memories with her boys, whatever that may be. I think it’s the best gift she could give to herself and to them. Please help me to help her make this dream come true. She once told me that I was one of the strongest woman she knows, but after today I can honestly tell you that I am a candle….and she is a BONFIRE! Fierce beyond words
