Playing Volleyball Overseas

Donation protected
Volleyball has always been a passion of mine and with it, God has opened SO MANY doors and opportunities for me that have been beyond what I ever imagined.  Most of my friends I have gained through playing volleyball, most of the traveling I have been able to do has been related to playing and coaching, and of course some of my fondest memories are all about my volleyball experiences.

It is truly one of the few things that I don't think I could ever get tired of!

The trip
Well I now have a new adventure ahead of me coming this January... I am heading to Europe with Bring It USA for an 11 day tour in hopes of getting contracted to play on a team oversees!  HOLY COW I AM THRILLED! If you know me, you know my competitive spirit has not settled down much since my career ended at Texas State in 2011, so I am fired up to get out on the court again!

But as much as I am stoked to go over and play volleyball competitively again, I am also just as eager to play and glorify God while doing it!  I think God gives athletes such a cool and unusual platform to be a light for Him because of the way our culture, especially kids, admire the athletes of the world.  Going to a new country has potential for me to learn other cultures as well as sharing God's word with teammates, coaches, and people I meet while there.

The Bible verses I'm using to set the theme of my trip is inspired by my husband who named his training program after the passage... it's 1 Corinthians 9:25-27

"25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."

So... I feel led to go tour Europe, while playing volleyball, possibly move there, and share God with different people I meet and encounter along the way??....... I'm not mad about that at all!!!!

Here is a layout of what the 11 day trip will look like:

January 6 - Leave the US for Milan, Italy
January 7-10 - Milan, Italy
January 10-12 - Rovinj, Croatia
January 12-15 - Maribor, Slovenia
(Day trip to Venice)
January 15-17 - Budapest, Hungary
January 17 - Depart from Budapest and head back to the US

Maribor, Slovenia

Venice, Italy

Budapest, Hungary

During this time, I will be with a group of athletes and we will practice and compete in front of coaches from all over Europe in hopes to make their teams.

Donations
The trip itself is $2000 which includes most meals while I am there, hotels, and transportation once in Europe - it does not include my flights to and from. I am also going to be selling t-shirts in support of this trip.  All donations are going directly to these expenses and are greatly appreciated!

I am also asking that you pray for me and my trip.  There are still several logistical questions we have that we are really trusting God on that we may not have answers to for a while!  I also realize He is giving me an extremely great opportunity to be impactful in people's lives so if you could pray for wisdom for me, I would greatly appreciate that as well!

Thank you all for your love and support!  I will keep you up to date with my journey to play volleyball in Europe!
