Leaving Abusive Husband of 20 Years

Hi... Im Amber and after 20 years of marriage, I've finally worked up the courage to leave my abusive husband.

I was told I had to leave when I told my husband that I was leaving. I cannot drive, and I am completely financially dependent on him. He ran our credit into the dirt, and bled money in places he shouldn't have.

10 years ago, he hatched a plan with a then mutual friend to get my drunk and rape me. I tried to work it out, I tried to forgive... but then I met people who treated me like a person for the first time in my life.

At 35, I am currently trying to learn to drive, maintain my first ever full(ish) time job while partially disabled, and secure my own housing, car, food, phone, etc.

I need court-ordered support and I need to be legally free of him before I can truly heal and move on.

This goal is to cover the consult for a divorce attorney, as this is an at-fault divorce. Most places are saying 150$ for a consult, with an 1800-3000k retainer to start.

This is going to be a long and expensive process that I need to navigate.

There is little to no help for women like me so Im forced to do this mostly on my own.

My husband didn't feel it was his responsibility to care for me after he told me to leave. Im sleeping on my partners couch and living in a 10 foot x 10 foot area.

I left my entire life, including my emotional support animal behind.
