AMBER'S LIVING EXPENSES -- KIDNEY TRANSPLANT
Donation protected
As some of you know, my niece, Amber, needs a kidney transplant, but she also needs financial help. I hesitated to put this Go Fund Me page together because this is not a great time of year to raise funds due to the coming holidays. If you do find yourself in a position to help financially, we would appreciate it more than you will ever know. If you cannot help monetarily, we would appreciate any prayers and good vibes sent her way.
To give you a little background about Amber, in 2017, she attempted to join the US Army to serve this country that she loves so much and to provide her with a better future. However, she was rejected at that time due to medical concerns about her kidneys. Her primary doctor did not give a lot of detail or imply that she would/should follow up for any further testing ( Dr didn't find anything wrong at that time), so she went on with her daily life. What person in their early 20s would think they had any reason to worry about their health in any way. From 2017 to February 2021, there were no red flags, and her doctor did not indicate anything was wrong at her February appointment. It wasn't until November 2021, when she went to the ER, that she found out something was wrong. She was admitted into the ICU and diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. You can only imagine her shock and surprise! She also got Covid which affected her heart. It was only working at 1/3 of its capacity. The doctors reported her kidneys had shrunk, there was a lot of scar tissue, and the tissue was too weak to try a biopsy to find out the cause of her issues. The risk of internal bleeding was far greater than the benefit of discovering the cause. At this time, the most crucial objective was to get her on dialysis and find a kidney donor. She is on dialysis 7 days a week, and as of last Friday (11.11.2022), she went from 7 hours a night to 8 hours. Her kidneys are failing so badly that she must be on blood pressure medication. Also, she is on heart medication. There have been some miracles already in her case. The first is that they caught this now and have the medical means to do dialysis until she can get a kidney transplant. The second miracle is that I was a match and can donate a kidney to her! The surgery is scheduled for December 21, and while it is scary to think about, there is nothing I wouldn't do for her. Unfortunately, her recovery period will be extended. Her employer does not offer long or short-term disability. Because of that, she will have no income for about 3-4 months after surgery. Also, due to the multiple doctor appointments (misses work), she has already started to fall behind on some bills. Amber is a strong single woman who prides herself on making it without relying on others. She would never ask for help but be the first to give you her last dollar. No one should go through this alone. Worrying if they should have a life-saving procedure or go to work because they have bills to pay. I am starting this Go Fund Me page to help ease the financial burden she is facing so that all she has to worry about is getting well and strong. We appreciate any help you can give. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
