Amber's OLYMPIC DREAM
Donation protected
I am a highly driven, Colorado native, athlete that is working towards the 2016 OLYMPICS. I attended University of Colorado and graduated from Louisiana Tech University as a successful multi-athlete in Basketball and Track.
In 2007, I was elected to play with the Houston Comets WNBA team and played overseas in Ecuador for Team Uruguay for the South American Championships.
After my professional basketball career, I decided to pursue a Master's Degree and coach Division I Women’s Basketball and Strength and Conditioning at Oklahoma State and University at Albany. I decided my athletic career was not over and was determined to pursue track and field professionally. I had taken six years off from the track when I decided to step out on complete faith and hope and moved to Houston, Texas, which is known for many legendary track and field athletes.
In less than 6 months I will be competing for a spot on the 2016 United States Olympic Team in Women’s Heptathlon...100 hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, 200m, Long Jump, Javelin and 800m. So that I may have the best opportunity to accomplish my Olympic Dream, I have moved to Dallas to train with an outstanding coach who has trained a number of Olympic and Elite athletes. I have devoted my time and life to a particular type of extreme training that requires five to six hours, six days a week, in order to participate in the upcoming 2016 Olympics.
The Indoor Season begins in January…last year I competed in USA Indoor Nationals, placed 8th and received USA All-American honors. After the Indoor Season, I will continue to train 6 days a week into the Outdoor Season. My first goal is to compete in as many track meets as possible to reach the USA “A” standard which will enable me to compete at the USA Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR starting July 1st. At the Olympic Trials the top three finishers will represent Team USA at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janerio…I aim to be in the top 3! Currently, shot is my best event and I am quickly making up ground in the 100m Hurdles and High Jump. I am making excellent progress and improving all the time.

This is my last chance to fulfill my goal and put 110% into making my DREAM come true!! “To be the best you have to train the best!!” I need to raise $8,000 to cover my training expense for the year so I can reach full potential. Therefore, I'm asking for your help to fund me through these last crucial months and take the journey to the OLYMPICS with me!!
