Rockville Volunteer Fire Dept Ambulance Recovery Fund

ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND - Building on the community’s generosity, the RVFD is announcing the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Recovery Fund. This is a verified GoFundMe where 100% of donations will go to fully fund two new ambulances. The RVFD created the GoFundMe so interested members of the community can help recoup our stolen funds.

Thanks to both our quick reaction and our bank’s assistance, we were able to recover half of what was stolen. Unfortunately, we are unlikely to recover the remaining $120,000, even following multiple open and active law enforcement investigations. In the coming days, we look forward to announcing an in-person fundraising event with our partners in and around the community we serve.

For over a century, we’ve been at the forefront of fighting fires in our community, and in recent years we’ve also helped shut down fraudsters looking to steal from fire departments across America. While we fell short this time, we are so thankful for our community’s support, and look forward to continuing our work at the forefront of fighting both identity theft and fires in our community.

Founded in 1921, the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department has grown to become the largest volunteer fire department in Maryland, with a membership exceeding 350 individuals. In 2023 RVFD’s Station 3 had a total of 14,662 unit responses making Rockville Volunteers some of the most active firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics in the nation.
