Storybook for refugee kids, Greece

Donation protected
Amel ( أمل‎, an Arabic unisex name) is a little bunny who has fled their country and, through their journey, is determined to establish a new era of hope in the world. Hope, just like the meaning of her name :)

Amel’s tale will be a printed children’s book written by Margarita Amorova , designed by Ru-sii and assisted by various talented artists as well. “Amel” is intended to be distributed for free to refugee children; initially in Athens, and refugee areas within Greece in general.

It will be a no-words vivid visual story which will mainly address young audiences of different countries within the refugee communities residing in Greece at the moment, who, due to their young age, cannot read or comprehend the same language. The purpose of the book is to help children cope with Refugee Trauma and all the stressful experiences they have – and unfortunately, may still have to face until their reach their final destination. Or at least, we hope that this book will entertain these kids during their journey to their own “Promised Land”.

So, we're launching this campaign in order to have as many copies of the book as possible printed and distributed to each refugee child.

Our initial goal is to raise € 1,000 for a 30 -page colored book. In all probability, more money may be needed in the future for additional copies of the storybook, as we wish Amel's book to reach as many refugee kids as possible. So, in this case, deadline will be extended.

We wish to use the entire amount of the money raised for the printing/distributing costs of the book. Authors and artists will receive no monetary reward. In addition, each and every donation receipt will be available online so that the donators can rest assured that their money is used for its actual goal.

Note that unfortunately, due to the recent events and policies, time seems to be running out for refugee families that are currently residing in various areas in Greece. Since the plan is that everyone be transfered to detention camps where help our supplies from civilians or organizations is strictly forbidden, it is urgent that the book be printed and distributed to those children quickly.

Every euro counts so please, take a minute to donate for our goal. A single euro or a mere 5 euro bill may mean nothing significant to most of us, yet for these kids, reading a book that is solely written and designed for them, may relieve them a bit from the traumas that have already been inscribed on them--both physical and psychological.

Thank you so much!
