Amelia Kelley's Memorial and Medical Bills

Amelia Katherine Kelley was born on May 16, 2014 - the first little girl in Jenna's family of two boys, Jacob and Tyler. For those of you who don't know the history of Amelia's birth and background, she was born with a rare genetic disorder, called Mowat-Wilson Syndrome. It was very clear in the early days of Amelia's life that she was unwell.
Soon after Amelia's birth, she was transported to Birmingham to be seen by a team of specialists and endured multiple procedures and surgeries. Even as a newborn baby, she was so strong and fought hard, against all odds.
God blessed Amelia with one of the most amazing, kind, and loving mothers that she could ever have. Jenna has been God's gift to Amelia, as much as Amelia was God's gift to Jenna and her family. She has worked tirelessly to raise her three children in the name of Jesus, she has served as a nurturing caretaker of not only her family, but of all of her patients as a nurse, and she has always given her heart and soul to her family, the community, and the church.
As Amelia's life progressed, she also faced more and more challenges. Through all of the normal stresses of life, Jenna has also been Amelia's primary caretaker, her biggest advocate, and her saving grace in many situations. Her intuition, her impeccable knowledge of her daughter and her health, and her guidance from God has allowed her to foresee the many times Amelia has needed major medical care. I truly believe she has saved her life many times, and she was gifted with more years of pure joy for her and her family.
This last year and beyond, has been very difficult, as Amelia was in and out of the hospital more and more. With every test came more questions, with every procedure came more doubt. Ultimately, over this last year, Amelia's digestive system began shutting down, and she was unable to process foods or tolerate any changes in her normal routines. She was put on TPN (IV nutrition) late last year, with the hopes of giving her system time to rest and rebuild.
Jenna was forced to take time off work in order to fully care for her daughter in September of last year. Her employer was so kind and compassionate to have worked with Jenna as much as possible to keep her employed, but after so many months of being out, caring for Amelia, her boss was forced to fill her position. Although she was able to arrange for Jenna to be a part time employee, Amelia's care was too excessive for her to be able to leave her. Even in a time when anyone would have broken down, Jenna put her faith in the Lord, knowing that He always provides. She still sees it as a blessing, for she was able to spend as much time with Amelia as she could in the time she had left.
Over the last couple of months, Amelia's health began to decline quickly. Shortly after two separate hospitalizations, Jenna found herself bringing Amelia back to Atlanta to be admitted once again. Although Jenna felt she knew what was happening with Amelia, the doctors had their doubts and had to go through the protocol of eliminating possible ailments. It was both a scary and frustrating time, and it was obvious that sweet Amelia was suffering.
Even in the hardest of times, Jenna's devotion and faith never ceased to amaze me. These are her words as she endured the most difficult situation a parent can go through:
"Be still, and know that I am God. Be still: Let it go. TRUST in your Heavenly Father.
We pray for miracles and we pray for healing but as a believer, we know that everything in THIS life is temporary. That we have a permanent home with our Creator. Our time on earth is meant to be spent growing spiritually and In service to others. Not to live a human life with spiritual experiences but a spiritual life with human experiences. And in that, we endure heartache and abuses, betrayals, and physical sufferings. But we also get to know love and excitement, adventure, and joy.
If you have ever actually met Amelia, then you know that to be around her is pure joy!
Amelia is not getting better. We have been informed that she will not. At this point, we aim to manage her symptoms, provide comfort and focus on quality of life... For however long the Lord sees fit before He calls her home. We’ve been informed that this could be months or possibly even years. But moving forward, her care will be palliative.
I ask that you pray for comfort. Specifically- For symptom relief. For more periods of feeling well and playtime and cuddles and JOY. For endurance and peace for me and for everyone closest to her.
Thank you for following. Thank you for your kindness. THANK YOU for your prayers. May it strengthen your own relationship with Jesus..
In His name and ALL for His glory."
Jenna's parents brought her two sons to see Amelia, and although she was feeling unwell, she was alert when the family came. Jenna believes this was perfectly orchestrated by God so that everyone could say their goodbyes.
Amelia's father and Jenna's best friend, Ashleigh, stayed with Jenna and Amelia through the weekend as Amelia started to decline further. She was transferred into the Pediatric ICU so they could monitor her closely, while administering medicine to make her more comfortable.
Amelia and her second mother, Ashleigh
Throughout the next couple of days, Amelia slept in her parent's arms, and was awake for little bits of time, listening to her favorite songs, but she continued to decline. On Sunday morning, Amelia Katherine Kelley left her mother's arms and embraced the angels who carried her home to Heaven on January 19, 2020.
Many of you know the story of Amelia's beautiful life. You know that her life was full of love, joy, laughter, and happiness. Even in her short life, she has touched the hearts and souls of more people than most. Her joyful, loving nature and her pure heart and soul was one of the most beautiful parts of life. She was God's gift to our world so that she could bring so much joy to so many people.
"Her sweet smile and disposition brought joy to everyone she encountered. Amelia loved people, touching the hearts of many. She immensely enjoyed music, dancing, playing with light up toys, and bath time. She loved attending all of her brothers’ sporting events, her sibling’s theatrical plays, and watching her favorite shows. She will remain forever in our hearts." - Jenna
I end this story with all of the pictures of joy, love, and happiness, because I know that this is how Amelia should be remembered. Thank you for following Jenna's journey with her sweet family. Thank you for all of your prayers, words of love and encouragement, and your support during this incredibly difficult time.
With the humblest of hearts, Jenna asks for very little, but as her friend and soul sister, I am asking for you to help her get through this time. Amelia's medical bills will start coming soon, and as I said before, Jenna has not been able to work since last September. If you cannot contribute to this fund, I ask that you share this far and wide so that this mama can focus on honoring her daughter's life while caring for her two boys. From the bottom of my heart and the depths of my soul, I thank you.
Amelia's memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Harvest Church with Pastor Roy Rogers officiating. Family will receive friends at the church for 1 hour prior to the service.
