Amelias BIG LEG-end Challenge
Donation protected
Amelia Eldred is my 12 year old daughter who lost her leg to cancer in 2018. She received chemotherapy and rotationplasty amputation of her left femur and knee.
Amelia has never let her illness and surgery stop her achieving. She wanted to return to dancing and as soon as she had her first prosthetic leg, she joined a Musical Theatre group and performs regularly in shows.
Amelia loves to push herself and wants to show other children that ‘anything is possible’ if you follow your dreams.
Last year Amelia was lucky to attend an inclusive week with 5 other amputee children and their families at AmpCampKids. This retreat offers the families a fully paid week of activities, rehabilitation, fun and socialising in a safe and welcoming environment. Amelia met children with similar amputation and became good friends. They were able to gain confidence, share experiences, laugh, cry and become ‘proud to be an amputee’.
Amelia was honoured to be made an ambassador for the cancer ampcamps and wants to raise money to send more amputee children to AmpCampKids as there is nothing fully funded and inclusive available for children from the UK.
Please help support Amelia raise these much needed funds as she sets off to complete 6 challenges this summer. This will include a fun run, zip wire, boxing, dance competition, triathlon and swimming!
Thank you for reading. Further details will be shared on the Facebook page: Amelia’s LEG-ends.
