Amelia’s In-Patient Mental Health Stay
Donation protected
I never thought I would write one of these, so I don’t really know what to say or even where to start. But we will give it a shot.
Amelia and I got married 4 years ago this month. In that time we have laughed, cried and loved. We have welcomed two wonderful little boys Owen (2) and Alex (10 months) and they have been our light and life.
While there are the daily hardships of battling 2 under 2, Amelia has been carrying a lot of extra weight for a while. She has been working with a therapist for more than a year to resolve some traumatic experiences including sexual assault. This has been ongoing for years, even before consistent therapy began. While that has helped, the past month things have taken an unexpected and intense turn when passive thoughts of ending her life became more substantial.
The decision was made with her, myself and her therapist that the best thing to do for Amelia to receive the help she needs is to go to an in-treatment facility. While this is going to be an unprecedented and challenging situation for our family, we are grateful for the many people who we know love her and want to see her here and thriving.
This is where we need help. Even after insurance the program costs more than 8,000 dollars. So as much as it is out of our comfort zone, we are asking if anyone who can could help us afford this. None of this is being used for anything personal and is only being used to pay off the outstanding bill that must be met for Amelia to Recieve this lifesaving care.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We believe that mental health is a very real thing that needs both more discussion and resources that are accessible to all. Thank you for taking the time to read and any support, thoughts and prayers.
