Samiu Bloomfield -America Is Beautiful
My heart is breaking as I write this message.
There are no words or feelings of the heartache the Bloomfield Family is experiencing right now. There are also no words to describe the affect Samiu Bloomfield had on the Everett Community. Not only did the Bloomfield family lose the Patriarch if their family but the residents of Everett also lost a figure of their community.
All Sam wanted all his life was to live in America. AMERICA IS MY HEAVEN is what Sam always said and had tattooed on his chin. Samiu was more patriotic then most American citizens. Samiu dreamnt of coming to America, Beautiful America as he called it. He began his journey from his native land of Tonga at the age of 17, his first attempt was not successful. At the age of 19 Sam made a successful second attempt by being a stowaway on a boat all the way from Tonga to America. Arriving in America alone, broke, dirty and hungry; Sam couldn’t be more happier that he made it. His dreams are coming true. Sam eventually settled in Everett Washington whew he eventually got his greencard and where he met his late wife Dora Bloomfield and started his family. Sam was a pillar to the community as anyone on any given day would find him standing on a corner brandishing is fully tattooed face of the American flag along with clothes that also represented the American Flag, waving mini flags and shouting, “God Bless USA, “Be Happy”, “America”, and he called everyone Beautiful. He would stand there for hours spreading his joy and happiness to the community as he stood waving the American Flag smiling and greeting the community. To not see Sam out on the corner was not the norm. Sam was the most giving human being I have ever met. He would and has given his last to those in need without any hesitation. Even if it meant that he went without. He asked for nothing but smiles and to Love GOD.
Sam lost his wife, then soon after losing the family home, which he had the house painted as the American Flag. Sam went to live with his son Vili where is life consisted of being surrounded my his children and his grandchildren. If Sam was not out greeting the Everett Community or with his family, you would find him at the YMCA working out or at Church. Samiu was recently diagnosed with Dementia. He could no longer do what made him happy and proud, which was to be apart of his community as he always had been.
Samiu was reported missing Jan 16th 2020. He had left his house in N. Everett and made his way all the way to Seattle in the freezing cold snowy weather in just pjs and a sweatshirt. The whole Community from Everett to Burien was on alert as well as the police. Sam was experiencing medical issues prior to him going missing. But the 3 days he went without food and water hit his body hard and to add the freezing temps his body began to shut down. A good Samaritan found him down at a park in Seattle and called for an ambulance. He was taken to Harborview ER where he underwent emergency surgery on his bowels which he was unable to recover from, after being in ICU for a day Samiu ended up passing away Jan 19th at 630am. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
I am creating this GoFundMe for the Bloomfield Family to help cover funeral expenses and medical bills for Samiu Bloomfield. The Bloomfield Family is grieving during these times but would like to Thank Everyone for their Thoughts, Prayers, Concerns, Blessings and the Enormous show of support and respect for their father. “I’m glad he made an impression on so many lives. OFA ATU” Vili Bloomfield.
