American Flag Retirement Collection Box

Our community needs your help! My name is Gabe Fatzinger and I am a Life Boy Scout in Troop 190 located in Grantham/Mechanicsburg, PA. I believe the American Flag is a living piece of history and a source of pride and unity for all Americans. The Stars and Stripes embody the very qualities that make our nation great: liberty, justice, freedom, love of country, and national purpose. I think the proper care of our flag is important to honor and pay tribute to our nation and its history. My Eagle Scout Project is the creation of a permanent service for residents of Upper Allen Township and the surrounding area to provide them an outdoor collection box to put deteriorated American Flags in for proper retirement and disposal. In addition, my project will encompass an education campaign on the proper etiquette and care for American Flags.

I am asking for your financial support to help fund a permanent outside collection box (which will be located at the Upper Allen Township Municipal Building) and to help with my education campaign (information fliers and collection bags to be distributed to over 2,000 households in Upper Allen Township). I anticipate the total cost of the project will be $1,570. Donations of any size would be greatly appreciated. Please make your donation by November 30th.

Ps You are invited to attend an outdoor Boy Scout American Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, December 13, 2020, 2:00 pm at Simpson Park, 2701 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. The ceremony should last about 30 minutes and please remember to wear your mask.
