American Indian College Library

Tax deductible
I'm Keilah Coverstone, the campus librarian at American Indian College.

Dorothy Cummings Library at American Indian College is an antiquated building with aged facilities, poor lighting, cockroach infestations, structural damage, and regular leaking/flooding. In approximately five years, the building will be torn down and a new one will be built in its place. But in the meantime, the library is in need of major updates that my budget cannot support. Therefore, I am raising money to benefit my library. If you feel led in your heart to make a contribution to this cause, thank you. The money raised will not only help make an impact on the library space, but also make an impact on its spiritual atmosphere.

With your contributions, I can complete major projects like these:

- Upgrade both bathrooms with new toilets, sinks, and better lighting. Both have been out of order since October 2020.
- Get the HVAC working in my office space. Without working AC, it is almost impossible to work in my office during  the hot months.
- Replace water damaged ceiling tiles. Many are bubbled and disintegrating.
- Upgrade ceiling lighting, including adding lights above the computer stations. Low lighting is a major complaint from patrons.
- Get a curtain for the upstairs window. It gets very hot without one.

To help you visualize the space, here are some photos of the library:

American Indian College is an Assembly of God Bible College in Phoenix, Arizona. The mission of American Indian College is to equip Native Americans for Christian service, emphasizing biblical truths and academic excellence within a Christian community. In Fall 2020, the college had a record enrollment of 106 students! The library is a major space on campus, and my vision is for it to be updated to meet the needs of the students. With the Lord's favor, he can help it happen. Once again, if you feel inclined to give, thank you!

9/22/2020 Update:

We have raised $355 which has helped fund paint for the library. Below are some photos demonstrating how your support is helping us!

We painted the circulation desk black and the back wall gray:

We painted the center pillar gray:

We are in the process of painting all door frames white and railings black:

Thank you for your generous support and prayers for the AIC library!

April 2021 Update:

It's official! Within the next five years, the Washburn building will be torn down and a new one will replace it. The Washburn building houses the library, dorms, laundry rooms, and two computer labs. It was determined that the cost to make all the necessary repairs on the building  would exceed the cost of a brand new one. In the meantime, the library could still use support and thank you to all who have given and to all who have prayed alongside me for a long-term solution!
