American Legion Post 67 needs your help!

American Legion J. Frank Cavanaugh Post 67 needs your help. One of the last standing bastions of Miami history on historic Dixie Highway, Post 67 is facing many necessary repairs to remain at the 1951 building that has operated as the heart of a community for decades. American Legions across the county are facing numerous challenges. As their membership and buildings age they are dependent on younger generations stepping up to preserve this uniquely American space which, while designed to serve our military veterans, does so much more.
Post 67 is typically open daily, serving drinks, food and companionship to veterans, their families and guests. Weekly events, including a community flea market on Saturday mornings and bingo every Thursday, as well as numerous special events happening every month - live music, karaoke, steak or fried shrimp dinners, movie nights, holiday parties are well attended and a highlight for so many people for whom the Post serves as their family.
Necessary repairs are underway, including new drywall, replacing floor tiles, refurbishing the kitchen, bar and storage areas, painting, electrical, plumbing and roof repairs. We are working to update and correct all the licenses and permits.
Volunteers have been at the Post for over two weeks doing everything they can to get the post ready to reopen, but funding for supplies is limited and has been quickly depleted. The Sons and Auxiliary members are determined to reopen the Post and welcome the local community back with open arms.
We hope you can help and visit us as a guest soon to discover this little slice of old Miami.
