Amie’s emergency spinal surgery in Costa Rica
Donation protected
*Update at the bottom*
My sister, Amie, has been involved in a car accident whilst travelling in Central America. She has broken her spine and is currently in hospital in Costa Rica. She requires emergency spinal surgery as she currently is unable to walk or stand.
The insurance company is refusing to pay as the vehicle she was travelling in didn’t have seat belts. The surgery and her stay is going to cost over £30,000 and we simply don’t have the funds to pay for this.
After the surgery, Amie will have to stay in Costa Rica for at least a month whilst the hospital assess her progress. My dad is having to get a last minute flight to Costa Rica to be with her as she is scared and alone, and the hospital is threatening to kick her out unless we pay up front.
I know times are hard for everyone, but it would be really appreciated if you could spare a few pounds to help us pay for Amie’s surgery and her recovery in Costa Rica.
Please share with friends and family.
Thank you from our family, I will send updates on her surgery and progress x
***UPDATE ABOUT AMIE***
Thank you all for your donation and kind words. Amie is feeling more positive now she’s had the operation. Astoundingly the hospital are discharging her very soon even though she only just had surgery yesterday! She is going to need a lot of physio and rehab so she can stand and walk again.
Dad is trying to find somewhere for them to rent in San Jose at it’s going to be at least 3 to 4 weeks before she’s allowed to fly home. It’s been a total nightmare and we all appreciate the messages and the donations so much. Thank you soo much ❤️
