Our story with our little one began long before her birth. In early 2008 we found that our daughter and her husband were expecting a baby. At the time they were separated, and our daughter made the decision to return to her husband who was in the military.
Labor Day, 2008 we were told they were planning on giving up the child for adoption, their reasons were many.
After speaking with our daughter, her husband and our attorney we made the decision to move forward and obtain custody, which ultimately would lead to our adopting their child.
October 28, 2008 a little girl was born and we have had her ever since. She is now 7 years old, incredibly intelligent, and to a degree spoiled as all children can be at times.
From the time that we brought her to our home in early November, 2008 (she was 10-12 days old) her biological father made NO attempt to see her. He never wrote, telephoned, nor did he ever stop by our home. He also never paid any support.
We were given court ordered custody in June, 2009. Our son-in-law threatened our daughter, making numerous threats which finally culminated in her returning back to our home. He (our son-in-law) not only refused to support his child, he also refused to support his wife.
We received one letter from him in July/August of 2009 which was written by an attorney there on his military base restating what our custody order said.
Our son-in-law was redeployed to the states in September 2009 to Fort Polk, LA, and in 2010 went back on reserve status and returned to Texas where he moved in with his girlfriend despite still being married.
From November 2008 to March 2013, we never heard a word from him regarding his daughter or his wife. In late March, 2013 he had our daughter served with divorce papers. He stated he wanted full custody of our granddaughter (he left out the part where we had legal custody), also demanding child support and medical from her.
We immediately had to find an attorney, get the proper documents filed and so on. We have already incurred $20.000 in debt due to legal fees and when in court (Tarrant County, TX) we were never allowed to jpresent our case, offer any testimony and he was given visitation (6 hours per month, supervised) which has kept our granddaughter upset from the beginning.
She has cut her hair, her clothing, wet herself, doesn't sleep well, has become combative and extremely argumentative.
In January, 2015 his girlfriend gave birth to a baby boy, and he has yet to tell our granddaughter she has a half-brother ,nor has he mentioned she has a half-sister who will be 18 in May.
We now find that he is taking us back to court because he feels that HE deserves more.
He makes no attempt to ask her how she is, how she likes school, if she is feeling alright, does she have friends. Further, he does not discipline her in any way allowing her to act out at which point he laughs, insuring further misbehaviour. He never initiates any activity with her, but is quite content to simply sit there.
This man has been arrested numerous times, the FBI report says he has used an alias in the past, the m ilitary found that he had issues with alcohol, and he has a violent temper , having threatened to kick our daughter to death in our yard.
We need help, I am prideful, but not where our granddaughter is concerned. Never where she is concerned.
Please, find it in your hearts to help us. We need these funds to help in payment of legal fees we will incur going forward.
