AMVETS veterans & family
Vandals inexplicably struck AMVETS National Headquarters on the day of the Presidential Inaugural Parade and then again Jan. 24, spreading hundreds of large nails and screws on the parking lot entrance and exit.
NBC 4's story about this | Task & Purpose reports
This occurred after weeks of nasty emails, calls and social media posts criticizing AMVETS for taking part in the parade.
AMVETS is a nonpartisan Veterans Service Organization. The parade application was completed before the election. The decision to march was not a political one. It was about raising awareness of veterans issues. AMVETS was set to march no matter who won.
These two attacks caused thousands of dollars in damage to the AMVETS Career Center truck and about a dozen team members’ vehicles. It also shows that a serious security upgrade is needed.
This was set up after the public quickly started asking for a way to help. Your support will go to covering the expenses for the tires and the security. Any additional funds would be used specifically for AMVETS programs that directly assist veterans and their families.
