AMWA Student Division Centennial

For nearly 100 years, the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) has been the progressive voice of organized medicine, addressing the tough issues that affect how medicine is discovered, taught and practiced. We are women healthcare providers who care about women’s health, women’s well-being and women’s leadership. AMWA has consistently championed universal access to preventive and primary healthcare, including reproductive health services, and incorporating sex- and gender-based medicine into medical training.

Founded in 1915, AMWA is the oldest multi-specialty organization of women physicians. As the vision and voice of women in medicine for nearly a century, AMWA empowers women to lead in improving health for all, within a model that reflects the unique perspective of women.

The AMWA Student Division was founded in 1957 and represents medical students, graduate students, and undergraduates. Student branches host numerous events in an effort to advance women in medicine, educate on women's health and improve the surrounding community.
