Support Amy's Fight

Donation protected
Following is information about the service and Celebration of Life for Amy. Everyone is welcome to attend both. For those who have asked or wondered, this GoFundMe page continues to be the best place to make donations for the Hernandez family. Another way to support their family is by sharing a note about how Amy has impacted you or memories you have with her. These messages can be dropped off in baskets at the service or Celebration of Life, or sent to an email address that is for these messages. Unfortunately gofundme doesn’t allow email addresses to be posted, but you can find the email address on Jake’s caringbridge post or can reach out to me if you’d like the email address.

Below is the information Jake has shared about the church service and Celebration of Life:

The Service and Celebration of Life reception for Amy will take place on March 22, 2025.

The Service will be held at Church on the Hill at 1:00 pm. Following the church service, we will gather at Hayes Mansion for a Celebration of Life reception, from 3:00-7:00 pm. Light appetizers and a no-host bar will be available, but mostly, there will be great conversations and plenty of laughs.

While we know this will be an emotional day, Amy wanted to make sure we come together and celebrate one another. From a selfish point of view, I would love to see everyone celebrate Amy and the life she chose to live.

All are welcome to the service and reception. We are excited to see you all there, enjoying yourselves and sharing wonderful stories, just as Amy wanted. Please feel free to share or repost this message.

With love,
Jake

Updste Jan 22: First of all, Amy and Jake have emphasized over and over again how appreciative they have been for all the support they’ve received through prayers, check-ins, financial help, cards, and so much more. They feel all the love around them and are forever grateful.

Amy was diagnosed with cancer 15 months ago and has fought so hard in every single way possible; words can’t describe how difficult this journey has been. Amy has been through biweekly chemo sessions that have made her feel sick and awful for most of the following week, surgery to remove part of her colon, implant a liver pump and remove liver lesions, she’s had numerous appointments with doctors where she’s felt a punch to the gut after not receiving the news she had hoped for, and she’s gone through the emotional roller coaster that comes with living with cancer. But through all of this, Amy has still been her typical self, showing nothing but love, empathy, and concern for others. Amy has reassured doctors who have given her difficult news because she has seen their sadness, she turns the focus on others who are checking in with her and wants to know how THEY are doing, she shows genuine interest in others’ lives, whether it’s a friend, staff at the hospital, an acquaintance, or someone she’s just met. She’s still so focused on making others feel special, appreciated, and cared for, as she always has, even while going through the most difficult time of her life.

Amy has been in a lot of pain the past few weeks and recently found out the cancer is growing, chemo isn’t working, and that she’s going to need to stop her current treatment. She is now focusing on holistic treatment and is searching for a clinical trial that is the right match for her. Over $23,000 was raised for Amy last year, which is truly amazing and so, so appreciated by Amy and Jake. Those funds have helped them tremendously to pay for medical and treatment expenses over the past year. The holistic treatment Amy is now switching to is very expensive, and travel expenses will also likely be involved once they find the right clinical trial. As people continue to ask how they can support Amy and her family, I figured it’s a good time to repost this GoFundMe page so that those who would like to contribute to the holistic treatment/clinical trial fund can.

It’s no surprise that Amy has so many wonderful people in her life, because she is such an AMAZING person. Amy and her family have had so much support around them the past 15 months, and it has helped them tremendously through this very difficult time. They appreciate all the love and support they’ve received, more than you’ll ever know.
