Amy Zajac's Breast Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and colleagues:
In a time of need, I have created this gofundme to assist one of my closest friends, Amy Zajac, in paying the estimated $20,000 in medical debt that she faces due to her breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
In mid-September 2021, after numerous visits to specialists, ultrasounds, and a lumpectomy, Amy received a diagnosis of Stage 1 invasive ductile carcinoma. In true Amy fashion, she tirelessly researched the very best option for her particular situation and consulted with several of our area's most reputable experts. Together, they decided that the best course of action was a unilateral mastectomy, which was performed on December 2nd. As if she wasn't going through enough already, the results showed that Amy's cancer had spread to the lymph nodes and surrounding skin, making her cancer Stage 2B. She recently started chemotherapy, which will continue for 5 months (January - June) and will be followed by at least 20 radiation treatments (July- August). Even in the face of more devastating news, she remains brave and optimistic. When I asked her how she felt about more treatment, she said, "The road is just a little longer than anticipated, but the destination is the same". Because she has to complete radiation, her reconstructive surgery will take place in early 2023.
Anyone who knows this woman can attest to her contagious smile, selfless heart, and hilariously sarcastic sense of humor. She has brought so much joy to the lives of others by simply being herself; offering a witty comment or lending a non-judgmental ear to those in need. She is a dedicated daughter, loyal friend, and one heck of a mother to 2 of the cutest little stinkers, Kamile and Kayra (7). Always going above and beyond in every aspect of her life, she is one of those people others wish to emulate.
As Amy spends the upcoming weeks recovering from her recent surgery and starting chemo, the anxiety of her diagnosis and lost wages will inevitably become overwhelming. A donation in any amount will help alleviate the stress of facing the mountain of medical bills in her near future. ***All donations will go directly to Amy.*** Please donate to help her fight this battle!
