Amy Rice's Medical Fund
Loving mom suffering from West Nile Virus
On July 16th, 2015 Amy Rice was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance, unable to breathe. Within hours she was admitted to the ICU on life support. While at the hospital she experienced sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy and respiratory failure.
In the blink of an eye, her life was changed. This amazing person stayed in the ICU sedated and on a ventilator for two weeks. She was then transferred to George Washington University Hospital, where the diagnoses of West Nile Virus and West Nile Fever were made. This came as a devastating blow to her family and friends. Paralyzed from the neck down and unable to speak or breathe on her own, she is now at the University of Virginia Transition Hospital.
Complications this severe only affect less than 1% of the 45,000 people infected in the United States.
Amy, age 36, is a loving mother of two, daughter, sister, and friend to many. Her daughter Arianna is 14 and her son Paul is 10. They miss their mother dearly. Amy is a kind person, always there to support her family and friends and she needs your help! Amy's family is trying to raise money to help offset the expenses from medical bills and the children’s needs. Please help them reach their goal of $25,000. Every donation is greatly appreciated.
