Amy”s Battle Against Scleroderma!

Everyone meet my best friend Amy. She has been fighting a losing battle against a rare, incurable disease called Scleroderma since 2001.
Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and fibrosis (thickening) of the skin and other areas of the body. In Amy’s case she has the more severe form, Systemic Scleroderma which has lead to the weakening of her heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in her body. Amy has lived with this disease for over two decades. She has underwent multiple surgeries, procedures, testing, and treatments ultimately to no avail. Amy has exhausted all treatment options except for one known as IVIG (immunoglobulin).
The hope is that this treatment can help do what other treatments have not and ultimately slow the progression of this debilitating disease. Unfortunately, IVIG will not be covered by Amy’s insurance leaving her with an overwhelming bill of $5400 a month.
Amy is in desperate need of funds to help cover the cost of this medicine as it will need to be taken long term.
My bestie has given her life to advocating for others living with this disease. She volunteers countless hours of her time to making sure people who are affected by scleroderma are not alone and get the resources and education they need.
