I am a JMU alumnus from the Graduating Class of 1992. I hope you can help with this Go Fund Me campaign as I am desperate for help, and even the tiniest amount of support will assist me.
I have had a very successful career since I graduated from JMU with a History and Business Minor and had a 3.2 GPA in my major. I was able to build an incredible lifestyle doing International Resort and Real Estate management, but when the recession of 2010 hit, I was devastated and lost most of my life savings, home and career. I suffered from Mental Illness issues and suffered a nervous breakdown. Through a decade of effort, wellness, and a Bi-Polar Disorder diagnosis, I have worked tirelessly to recover my career and personal/professional standing.
Unfortunately, I have been targeted with severe social bullying/stigma and put in the way of lifestyle predators as I have repeatedly been denied income and jobs. I have been labeled "a "schizophrenic," a "support sucker," and a "derelict to society." My co-occurring mental health/self-medicating substance abuse has long since been rectified. I have watched as wealthy people and men have been awarded their professional jobs immediately after rehabilitation with pats on the back. I am once again forced away from my home and family.
I am being ordered to be the "poster child" for mental health in my local community as I am well known and was once thriving, a JMU graduate from a good family etc. Also, due to my involvement in the minority community, so harshly affected by the stereotype of SA/Co-occurring mental health issues, I am 100 percent sure that there is a harmful level of discrimination occurring as we unwind from the George Floyd era of 2020-2021. This is in spite of the positive FACT that I repeatedly have been lauded by the Civic/CJ Professional members involved in my rehabilitation-for my successful efforts to rehabilitate myself.
I genuinely need financial assistance to get back on my feet. I am asking for even small donations. I am desperate for safety and need immediate and long-term emergency funding help. I will use the money to create an emergency fund and immediate rental and housing needs. My rent is the biggest issue as I have a Super studio and am in danger of losing it. I can also use Gift Cards for Uber if you feel cash is not the best idea! My rental manager has a direct website for payment that would go straight to the apartment. Notably, I currently participate in credentialed wellness co-occurring therapy with licensed professionals who monitor my mental and daily wellness lifestyle choices.
If you can donate, I'd be so grateful.
