AN AFRICAN CONVERT NEED HELP FOR ISLAMIC STUDIES

Al-Salam Aleikum brothers and sisters
My name is Ibrahim Alwafa also known by Michael Withaka Mwangi. I became Muslim in 2013 and have since dedicated my life toward learning the religion and teach it to my people in Kenya. I have almost finished my islamic studies but I can’t for financial reasons and I’m calling for your help.

I'm from a Christian family and community in the central part of Kenya from a tribe called Kikuyu which is the biggest tribe in Kenya. 99.99% of my tribe are Christians. It's in the mount Kenya region where there is no Muslims at all. I never knew anything about Islam and no one came to call us to Islam to a point most of us thought - and still people have the same idea - that Islam is a Somali cultural phenomenon. Whoever is a Muslim is a Somali and the media are spreading bad reputation on Islam about wars, terrorism, etc. Most people in my community fear Muslims. Kids are brought up with ideas to fear Muslims and hate them and to make the matter worse not any Muslim came to us to change our ideas. Until today we have the same problems in Kenya: most Muslims are in big towns while most of the population are not in towns so it's my big responsibility to go back to my people and call them as it's easier for them to accept someone from their own.

My journey to Islam started when my parents separated for a while in 2008 and we moved with our mom to a town close to Nairobi called Thika and that's where I found Islam and my first opportunity to interact with Muslims and all I saw was something different from what I heard. That time we were going through very hard times and most people wouldn't helped me while I was starving to death not having somewhere to stay where Muslims welcomed me to their houses treating me as one of their own while my own Christian family didn’t want to help me. Muslims showed me love and this affected my heart. I lived with them a couple of years, saw them the way they used to go to to the mosque 5 times a day to pray and I felt I was really far from God. The more I stayed with them I came to realize they believe in Jesus even more than Christians who believe in the Bible. I decided to become a Muslim and from that day my life changed .

That day I felt I have to share this with my people and the whole world. My family most of them were against me and said all kind of things. I never got any support or love from them but Alhamdulillah Muslims showed me more love so I decided to take the path of seeking knowledge to understand Islam well and go back to my people. I studied in Markaz Alhusna in Kenya which is in Malindi. Later, I got support from brothers and sisters and went to study at Dar Al Mustafa in Tarim, Yemen where there are great scholars. I have been here for 5 years studying and I got married 3 years ago. Me and my wife are seekers of sacred knowledge and for the last year we have been going through very hard times: financial problems, debts, etc. We are kindly asking you to support us with whatever you can so we can finish our studies and go out to spread this message. Right now I'm not studying because of the many problems we are facing. I’m kindly asking anyone who could to support us and contribute with whatever they can with the great hope that Allah will reward them.

I wish you would know how it is when you are Muslim and your family is not and your community knowing the truth becomes a weight on your heart so that I have to share this to make people see the truth because people have been made blind by enemies of Islam.

Be aware that supporting us is supporting the spread of this message to those who haven't got it. If you can't spread the message yourself, then support those who spread it and by that you'll have the same reward insha'Allah

Jazakumullahu kheiran  may Allah bless you most we ask keep us in your duas

My name is Sami Maaroufi. I'm the one organizing this campain. I'm a Canadian friend of Ibrahim who studied with him at Dar al Mustafa in Tarim, Yemen from 2018 to 2021. I know him very well and fully trust him. The plan is to send him the fund through Western Union when the campain is completed. The goal is that he'll be spending these funds for his daily needs and the needs of his wife to allow them to complete their studies within one to two years.

Thank you!
