An All Nighter: Suicide Awareness in Under 25s

Hi all,

This year the 24 Hour An All Nighter Bike Ride is to raise awareness for Suicide in under 25 year olds. This year the ride will be rasing money for two charities and proceeds will be split evenly between them; Standby Support and Kids Helpline.

In 2020 just under 500 reported suicides were that of people under the age of 25 years old, 480 to be exact. Suicide is still considered a taboo topic for many people. Not many people like to talk about it and when a young person is the person who takes their own life, it carries the stereotype of being for attention and therefore people fail to talk about it and break this stereotype and taboo. In actual fact, suicide, whether it be a young person or not, is usually a permanent call for help after many attempts of asking for help that this person may see as failed.

I know that many people talk about this ride and me being "crazy" for committing to it and I might be, but I believe that if I can be talked about for doing the ride, then the reason for the ride should be able to get more air time. Suicide Sucks! So lets help our young people seek the help they need and their loved ones left after a suicide find support.
