An Amazing Teacher Needs Immediate Help

Hi, I am June and with my friend and colleague Dominic we are asking for your help. Our friend Linda Morris has been our teacher bestie buddy since she started teaching at our school. I have been teaching with Linda for 23 years and Dominic for 17 years! Linda is a fantastic teacher who has been teaching for 23 years in the West Contra Costa Unified School District. We have decided to start this fundraiser because Linda is an amazing person who has been fighting a rare form of cancer for over 8 years. This is the hand she has been dealt. Linda finds it difficult to ask for help and has never complained or asked for any special favors. She has handled this daily with grace and bravery. Throughout her treatments, she has shown up to teach with a full heart making a difference to her students each day. We think, how can she do that? Putting aside feeling uncomfortable and worried. It takes incredible bravery and strength.

Linda has recently received a dire diagnosis from her local Oncologist, she was referred to OHSU for a clinical trial of two drugs that she is a good candidate to receive. Her insurance will not cover any out of state costs, so we do not want that to be a determining factor of whether she can participate in the clinical trial. Linda is the beneficiary for this fundraiser. This means the money from this fundraiser goes directly into Linda’s bank account, from the GoFundMe team. The funds will be used for paying for the clinical trial, which will include scans and labs, that must be done by Dr. Heinrich at OHSU. She will also need to pay for flights to OHSU for her treatments, two times per month. As you can imagine, there will be many other expenses. Such as hotels, meals etc. This will probably be for the next year. This is an unexpected expense prohibited on a teacher's salary. Your donation of any amount will help Linda and her family through this difficult time.

We are sharing Linda’s journey to healing and providing her all the support we can. Our goal for Linda is to reach $80,000.
