An app to help autistic children feel 'Just Right'

Sadie Gillett and Karen Milton started working together a decade ago. Sadie as a teacher for autistic children and Karen as an Occupational Therapist.
Together they created something unique - The Just Right programme - a simple visual tool designed to help autistic children recognise and regulate their emotional and sensory needs.
Children are taught to describe how they feel by referring to a colour zone. Activities are built into each zone to help them 'get back to green' and feel 'just right' again.
Children using the programme get a 'Just Right' profile which helps everyone understand their triggers, how each colour zone feels to them, and what helps them to regulate.
Over the last six years, the Just Right programme has achieved great success, helping thousands of children across Brighton & Hove. Every school in the city now uses Just Right and for many families across the city Just Right has become part of their everyday life.
Sadie and Karen now want to create an app that will work alongside Just Right, enabling children in Brighton & Hove and beyond to easily communicate their needs, and feel 'just right' more often.
The app features include:
• Suggesting strategies for helping children feel 'Just Right'
• A personalised approach for each child
• Helping the child to work out which colour they're in
• Ability to contact parents/teachers without being overt
• Feedback to parents/teachers on children have been feeling
We are working with experts in children's digital products to make sure our app is developed to a really high standard.
