I'm Azza's cousin, Aziz, I currently live in Belgium, and I'm overseeing this campaign on her behalf. Azza, who resides in Gaza, is experiencing challenging times amidst the ongoing conflict. She wishes to share a heartfelt message with you.
Dear Friends,
We write to you today with heavy hearts, burdened by the weight of our circumstances and the uncertainty that looms over our family. Our journey has been one of immense loss and relentless hardship, leaving us with little but hope and determination to see us through.
Azza and Mohammad, once pillars of their community, have faced unimaginable losses. Mohammad, a dedicated pharmacist for over nine years, saw his lifelong dream crumble as their pharmacy in Al-Zahraa City was destroyed. This was not just a loss of income, but a loss of identity and purpose, leaving Mohammad without means to provide for his family.
Azza, a devoted teacher at a school that was also destroyed, now battles chronic respiratory illnesses exacerbated by the harsh conditions we endure. Her pregnancy adds to our worries, as the lack of access to proper medical care leaves us in constant fear for her well-being and that of our unborn child.
Their losses, both financial and personal, weigh heavily on us all. As their children, we have witnessed the toll it has taken on their spirits, their hopes, and their dreams. Forced to flee their homes multiple times, they have endured the relentless cycle of destruction and displacement. Each night, they lay their heads down to sleep amidst the echoes of explosions and the haunting memories of what was lost.
But it is not just the physical destruction that weighs heavily on their young hearts. The psychological toll of war is evident in their trembling hands and tear-streaked faces. Nightmares plague their sleep, their laughter replaced by anxious whispers and trembling sobs.
The harsh realities of displacement have taken a toll on their health as well. Malnutrition gnaws at their bodies, leaving them weak and vulnerable. Gastrointestinal infections, skin allergies, and respiratory ailments are constant companions, reminders of the precariousness of their existence.
Yet, amidst the darkness, a flicker of hope remains. Asaad, Ameer, Zein al-Din, and Jawan possess a resilience that belies their tender years. They cling to dreams of a better tomorrow, where the scars of war will fade and the promise of peace will finally be realized.
But they cannot do this alone. They need your support, your compassion, and your generosity to help them navigate the uncertainties that lie ahead. Your contributions can provide them with the tools they need to heal, to learn, and to grow into the resilient young adults they were meant to be.
We aim to raise $30,000 as the goal of this fundraiser, representing the fee required for crossing the Rafah-Egypt border—a seemingly insurmountable obstacle standing between us and a safer, brighter future.
Please, stand with us as carriers of our plea. Together, we can offer Azza, Mohammad, and their children the chance to reclaim their lives, rebuild their futures, and forge a path towards a brighter tomorrow.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Azza, Mohammad, and Family
