In early April 2023, our mom was diagnosed with liver cancer and cirrhosis. We were told that it was detected early and that it would be treatable. Then on July 16th, we were dealt with another blow that she had a tumor also growing in her left leg. As worried and devastated as we were, they assured us that the cancers were not related, that both were early stage and would be treatable, and to remain hopeful.

Our mom began a 6 week radiation treatment on her leg tumor towards the end of August 2023 until around Mid October. She was then set to have the leg tumor surgically removed on November 9th. The surgery was successful, but the incision on her left posterior thigh was a lot larger than we had anticipated (26 staples), and her recovery would be very tough and long. Unfortunately, mom became ill from post-surgery infections. First, she had to be rushed to the hospital a week after the surgery, and she slowly recovered a week later and was discharged on Thanksgiving Day. Then she became ill again on December 12th and was rushed to the emergency department. Our mom was then placed in ICU. Unfortunately, after that day, our mom’s health deteriorated exponentially. She had to be placed on a ventilator, her blood pressure was very low and could only remain stable with lots of medicine, and her kidneys began to fail. After all attempts to save our mom, we received the crushing news that she was unlikely to survive much longer on December 27th. On December 28th, we rushed to the hospital and we all were by her side as she took her final breaths, and at noon, she was gone forever.

Now our family is burdened with funeral costs, which we all know are very costly. We humbly ask that if you are able to donate any amount to cover some of these costs, we would greatly appreciate it. No amount is too small. Going from being stressed and anxious during her treatments, surgery, recovery, and time in the ICU, to grieving from her death, we feel absolutely devastated and overwhelmed at the moment and would appreciate any help. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This is in memory of our loving mother, Ana Gloria Marquez. May she rest in eternal peace and paradise.
