Ana Maria Capotosto's Treatment + Cancer Research
Donation protected
Just six months after Ana Maria retired from working at the University of Toronto, some three years ago, she was diagnosed with an advanced stage of a rare form of melanoma. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment for this difficult and aggressive disease. During the course of her treatment, she has had several setbacks, but she continues to battle on. It has been an extremely trying time for Ana Maria, her family, and her wide circle of friends, who are all heartbroken by this predicament. Those who know her agree that she is one of the most selfless and giving people they know. Ana Marie has, and continues to take every opportunity to express those sentiments to all, even complete strangers.
Not only is Ana Maria a wonderful person, but was an amazing workmate as well. She brought lightness and joy to work every day. She would remember everyone's birthday, and feed her fellow employees with vegetables that she had grown in her garden. She helped and continues to help the less fortunate, both locally and internationally through her church group, often at her own expense. Most recently, she heard about a group of migrant workers living in the poorest of conditions up north who lived in a run down barn and had very little clothing. She set up a drive to collect clothes and other essentials to help ease their plight, in spite of her own condition.
Unfortunately, it is Ana Maria who is facing difficulty. The disease has left her weak and in pain, and the rigours of her treatment have proven challenging. Through this trying time, she has still maintained a positive attitude, but the expenses related to her illness and the treatment have been taxing on her and her family.
The medication for her treatment is very expensive, yet crucial to her battle against cancer. We are hoping to raise $50,000, which Ana maria would like to go toward funding trial cancer programs at Princess Margaret Hospital. Please consider a donation so we can offer her the support she has given to many throughout her life.
