Ananais’s Medical Fund
Donation protected
A native of Cleveland, Ohio. A pharmacy technician by trade. Ananais is a 34 year old caring, loving and generous person. She’s a devoted Daughter, Sister and Aunt. In August of 2021 Ananais found a lump under her left arm in the tricep area. For several months she sought medical treatment at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. The lump was a 22cm (8 inches in length) mass that was steadily growing in size. Unfortunately, the doctors at University Hospital could not determine what the tumor was or what was causing it. Therefore, Ananais sought a second opinion from the doctors at Cleveland Clinic. They discovered the mass to be a rare tumor called Angiomatoid Fibrous Histiocytoma (AFH) that usually occurs in children and young adults. It is a soft tissue tumor that affects your extremities, such as your arms, legs, hands and or feet. Because of its rarity it is often misdiagnosed and treated inadequately. Ananais was admitted to Cleveland Clinic where she received various treatments to stop the growth of the tumor. Unfortunately, to no avail. After 49 days of treatment the tumor had grown to the size of a football (58-62 inches). Due to the tumor’s rapid growth and impingement on her chest cavity the tumor had to be removed. In order to remove the tumor, the doctors would have to amputate her entire left arm, partial shoulder and shoulder blade. The surgery was performed on Friday September 23, 2022 and took nearly 7 hours. She was released on October 6, 2022 from Cleveland Clinic to Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) Rehabilitation Hospital, for in patient acute-intensive physical and occupational therapy. Where she completed an intensive therapy program for amputees, released on October 19, 2022. She will need long term outpatient Home Healthcare with wound care, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Ananais’s entire life has changed. She must now navigate a new normal as an amputee. Since her release from the rehabilitation center, she is residing with her mother who along with her father have been by her side during this entire ordeal to assist with daily living activities. If you would like to assist with her financial situation, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds will go directly to Ananais’s medical costs and related expenses for her new way of life as an amputee. On behalf of Ananais, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers and support shown over the past few weeks and undoubtedly, in the months to come.
