Ancestral Women

Donation protected
Migiiziikwe, a member of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe and I are producing a performance piece called Ancestral Women based on the fiber art exhibit by Mary Burns.  Women from each of the twelve tribes currently residing in Wisconsin are being honored.  In spoken word, music, drama, and movement the importance of what we know and enjoy today as a gift from those who came before us will be celebrated.  Women from the various tribes will be participating.

We will be doing preview performances at The Milwaukee Public Museum on November 10th, 2018.  We hope to tour in the Midwest, and, hopefully, throughout the nation over the next two years.

We have some funding, and, thus far, we have contributed our own time to bring this dream to reality.  We need to raise several thousand dollars yet to pay for the life-sized photos of Burns’ woven portraits that will form the set for the performance and to help pay travel expenses for performers throughout the state.

Miigiiziikwe and I both have a lot of experience in theatre and in developing projects.  We just don’t have a lot of money.  Can you help us?

Miigwech (thank you) for your consideration).
