Andee and Kannon Cooper

Hello, my name is Katy Herman, momma to a sweet, special-needs angel boy, in Heaven.

I’m reaching out to friends, community members and superhero supporters, like YOU, in hopes of helping another special-needs momma and dear friend, Andee Cooper.

Andee’s son Kannon has a life threatening seizure disorder called Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. This dynamic duo have been dealing with the punches that LGS continues to throw at them since he was three years old. Kannon is now a big, fifteen-year-old, strapping young man.

This summer, Kannon has gone through a number of heartbreaking seizures, injuries and other complications from living with LGS. You can only imagine the distress this causes Andee as she watches her sweet boy and does her best to keep him safe.

Andee has spent her life advocating for others, especially those who are the most vulnerable and has never asked for or expected anything in return.

It’s now our turn to support Andee and Kannon!

Kannon is in dire need of a seizure sleep safe bed. This type of medical equipment is VERY costly and is not covered by insurance, in the state of Oklahoma. In efforts to fight for her son and his safety, Andee has appealed the denial but since it was written into policy in 2013, the appeals continue to get denied.

Kannon has notoriously had a great deal of trouble sleeping. Despite medication therapy, Kannon continues to have very poor seizure control due to LGS. During their recent trip to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX, the medical team realized a great deal of Kannon’s sleep is interrupted by underlying seizure activity. This disturbance causes Kannon to be up for hours through the night, sleep walking and doing things that are unsafe and ultimately a huge liability to his personal safety.
