Andrew Morales Memorial Scholarship
Andrew Morales passed away on March 5, 2018, after he lost consciousness during a band practice and was taken to Dublin Methodist Hospital where they tried to revive him. Andrew loved music and was passionate about academics as well. In his memory, his family began raising funds for a scholarship for a student who will be attending a university with plans to continue participation in music. Contributions are accepted and distributions are made on behalf of the family through the Dublin Music Boosters.
The scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who exemplifies Andrew’s commitment and love for marching band and academics.
The intent is to provide financial assistance for post-secondary education. Eligibility criteria includes: at least one year involvement in Dublin Coffman Marching Band, graduation from Dublin Coffman High School with weighted GPA above 3.75, pursuing a post-secondary degree with plans to continue involvement in music.
One scholarship of an amount to be determined will be awarded to a qualified recipient in 2018. Pending outcome of contributions to the scholarship fund, additional awards may be distributed in 2019, 2020, and/or 2021. Potentially, these students would have been personally impacted by Andrew. Scholarship selection is not based on need but need may be taken into consideration.
In order to determine distribution of funds, contributions will be accepted until April 27, 2018.
