UPDATE:

It has been several months since my brother's life-changing hit-and-run accident that left him permanently paralyzed at the young age of 28. Although life moves on, the impact of the accident still lingers for my brother Andre. The pain he feels from the tragedy hasn't lessened, and it continues to affect him deeply.

He has has recovered from some of his injuries (concussion, broken spine, scapula, lungs, etc). Still, there are lingering mental, emotional, and physical traumas and financial burdens, amongst many other obstacles we/he are now facing. The transition home was not easy. Adjusting his life to this new reality has been challenging. We are making every effort to support my brother as best we can, but we still need your help. This will be a life-long journey for my brother and it is with humble desperation that we kindly ask you to consider donating whatever amount you can and continue to share the fundraiser with anyone you think might be interested in helping. I am reaching out today in urgent need with a plea for support in a difficult time. It is with tears I share that in September, three days after his birthday, my little brother was the victim of a life-changing hit and run. An irresponsible, reckless driver who has yet to be identified collided his vehicle into Andre’s motorcycle, ejecting him off his bike. It breaks my and my family's hearts to share that, amongst many other critical injuries sustained, my brother has permanently lost the ability to walk.

After weeks of intensive care at the ICU, two hospitals, numerous painful procedures, tests, medications, and intensive rehabs later, we are humbly asking for donations to help us cover the cost of his medical expenses, home modifications, transportation, vehicle modifications, specialized rehab, physical and psychological therapy amongst many other necessary expenses that have already accumulated and will be coming up.

These have been the most traumatizing 10 weeks. But Andre is resilient; My little brother is the toughest person I know. None of us will ever understand the pain and suffering he’s enduring. Every day is a mental or physical battle he didn’t deserve but is fighting with everything he’s got. No one deserves to go through what he’s going through. No mother/parent should witness their child suffering and fighting for their life and sanity. No sibling should see the love for life slowly fade away from their brother’s eyes.

We are overwhelmed with grief and desperate to provide Andre with the resources and finances to be as comfortable as anyone in his unfortunate position can be. His life will never be the same but your contribution, no matter how small, will greatly impact the quality of his life and play a huge role in giving him a well-deserved chance at rebuilding a happy and full life.
