Andrea Kipp Needs A Stem Cell Transplant - UNMC

It is with a heavy heart that I write this today. Last year, my wife, Andrea, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She spent several months undergoing chemotherapy treatments. After the completion of treatment, she was in remission from cancer. Even at her three-month checkup in March of this year, her blood work looked great, and we were thinking we were finally getting past this chapter of our lives.

Fast forward to Andrea’s six-month checkup in June, a CT scan showed what appeared to be an enlarged lymph node, which was a major cause for concern. After a PET scan and needle biopsy, it confirmed that Andrea had relapsed and her Hodgkin’s Lymphoma had returned. We were devasted to say the least, and the last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions.

Due to Andrea’s young age, her doctor recommended several rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant, where she will spend a few weeks in the hospital at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska. Receiving this news has been heart wrenching and has caused us to ask God, why us, why Andrea? John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Even though we know that this will be a very difficult time in our lives, we know we will get through this with God’s help. God has blessed us with family and friends who will help us during this very difficult time. After being hit so hard financially last year, we are now being hit hard again. We recently spoke to our insurance and UNMC to find that we will have about $35,000 to raise for Andrea to have her stem cell transplant. We know we cannot do this alone, and trust that God will provide for us.

Please pray for Andrea that she may be fully healed in Jesus’s name and give her peace that only God can give. We also need prayers for our family during this challenging time. If the Holy Spirit lays it on your heart, please prayerfully consider giving to help raise the necessary funds we need to take care of Andrea’s medical needs.
