Andre's Angels Part 2

Andre has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, again... and must have another surgery to remove the tumor. Andre will begin Ibrutinib (oral medication) to begin shrinking his tumor. In June Andre will have a shot, Alemtuzumab, weekly for four weeks. He will then have surgery on July 7th to remove the new tumor from the front of his neck.

His prognosis is positive, although the side effects of this medicine can take a toll on a little body. Andre may lose his hair, he may lose weight; we just have to wait and see how his body reacts.

Andre is a kind-hearted, loving and caring young man. He LOVES playing football and loves hanging with his Beach Bucs buddies even more. Obviously, this would be hard for any child to comprehend but Andre is doing such an amazing job of communicating his fears and concerns with his mother, Xiara.

Xiara's insurance will not cover this treatment, as it is a clinical trial. The doctors at Children's do believe this is the best treatment plan for Andre. In addition to missed time at work and travel expenses she will have a hefty hospital bill after all of this.

PLEASE help us take away some of the stress for Xiara so she may focus on Andre and calming his fears and concerns.
