Andrew & Alex Carpenter

Hi, my name is Shayna. I am raising money for my brother and his Wife Alex.

Andrew and Alex are newlyweds. They were married on May 9, 2023.

On June 17, 2023 they were both involved in a car wreck just a mile from their house in West Portsmouth headed home from spending the day fishing. My brother was driving and they had their trailer and boat in tow.

Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle that caused the wreck ran a stop sign pulling out in front of my brother leaving him no time to react or stop.

We are very thankful that everyone involved in the wreck in both vehicles survived.

It totaled my brother’s truck, boat, and trailer, but we know those things can easily be replaced.

His wife sustained some injuries and bruises, but didn’t require hospitalization. That is not the case for Andrew.

Andrew was hospitalized with traumatic brain injury, a severe concussion, swelling and fluid retention in his brain and ears. It has affected his cognitive function, speech, memory, and ability to walk. Along with many other things, but those being the main concern.

He is currently in physical and speech therapy and is still admitted to the hospital.

His neurologist updated us last night and is hopeful that he will recover more, but has a long road ahead of him. He will not be able to work for months because of the severity of his injuries.

He had just started a new job as a Millwright in the union, but will lose that position and has no health insurance.

I’m starting this fundraiser in hopes to help them cover some medical expenses and their daily bills until he gets back on his feet.
