Andrew's Road to Recovery.....
Hi, as many of you know my brother Andrew was paralysed in a motorcycle accident just over 4 weeks ago. As a family we are so proud of the determination and strength he has shown through what has been a very difficult and testing time.
As his brother I want to help support Andrew not only emotionally but also financially to ensure that his rehabilitation is maximised by having the best equipment out there to help aid his recovery.
Unfortunately these costs run into tens of thousands, money which Andrew does not have.
Andrew took voluntary redundancy from Sunderland Marine, as he was due to embark on a new career as a Health and Safety Officer Offshore which sadly will not go ahead now, therefore leaving Andrew unemployed, and unable to support himself for the foreseeable future.
Andrew would never ask anyone for help as he is a very proud man, and will not be happy I have set up this page, but my intention is to help alleviate some of his financial worries so he can concentrate on getting physically better.
The NHS have provided fantastic care, for which we are extremely grateful, but this service has its limitations and equipment which Andy needs to help live independently comes at quite a hefty price tag.
I know Andrew has a lot of friends out there, who like me care and want to help. My aim is to raise around £20,000... So if anyone would like to make a donation, arrange a sponsored event, we would be very grateful and no amount is too small.
These funds will go towards living costs and getting Andrew the best equipment enabling him to eventually live independently in his wheelchair.
I know the support Andrew has received to date has been phenomenal, the amount of texts, emails, cards, sweets and visits he has had had have massively lifted his spirits, so from all of our family we would like to thank each and every one of you.
