Andrew Esqueda Memorial Fund

It's with a heavy heart that I share this GoFundMe page in memory of young Andrew Esqueda. He lost his life due to a senseless act of violence on June 18th, 2020. Andrew was 18 years old when he passed and he leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. 

I had the privilege of mentoring Andrew since 6th grade when I met him at Simons Middle School in the City of Pomona.  We reconnected when he began to attend Park West High School. I worked with him through our organization, Just Us 4 Youth. He was involved in our programs and over the years he was working on developing his character, leadership, and a vision for his life and future.

He was always so pleasant to be around. He had a great sense of humor and he always welcomed others into his life, making them feel like they belonged. He was a loyal friend who loved to have a good time.

In our restorative circles he would always share so transparently, speaking about his hope to grow, graduate, and do something with his life. He will be missed, but his memory will live on in this community . He taught me so much through the years and I count it a blessing to have been able to be a part of his life as a mentor. 

Andrew's principal and I recently met with his family.  His older brother Dillon shared some of their needs and I offered to support the family by starting this GoFundMe page. The money raised will be used to cover funeral expenses as well as provide much needed relief to the family during this time. 

Dillon will be in charge of final expenses for this fund. I plan to work closely with him as we begin to raise funds. We hope to raise our goal of $8,000 by July 1st, 2020. Thank you for supporting this cause. We appreciate your generosity!
